We love working with passionate and inspired companies. Schmidt Construction is near and dear to us and has been locally owned and operated since 1978. We caught up with Catherine Schmidt, co-owner of Schmidt Construction to learn a little more about them. Visit their website to see their work here.
What services do you provide?
We do everything from renovating kitchens and bathrooms to building houses from the ground up. We also do commercial projects, like renovating a 125 room retirement home and building a state of the art play space for UCSB faculty’s children.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
I love the mix of art and science that goes into building and renovating. No job is the same and it requires that you use your creativity as well as analytical thinking to solve problems and create beautiful and functional spaces. I am inspired by Santa Barbara’s rich Mediterranean architectural history and the beautiful materials found in our surrounding beaches and mountains. Of course, I can also get lost for hours browsing inspirational images on Pinterest.
What do you envision for Schmidt Construction’s future?
In addition to making clients’ dream projects come to life, I hope to continue the development side of our business by renovating some older commercial buildings in the Santa Barbara area and bringing them back to life!
